Bean's Hideaway is approximately a hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth in a secluded valley outside Patensie.
The farm has primarily natural vegetation with a crystal clear mountain stream traversing the farm. The banks are lined with large Yellow Wood trees. In this beautifull hidden valley you will find yourself in a paradise of birds and wild life. The Knysna Loerie, bushbuck are often seen with the ever so shy leopard only seen by a lucky few.
Around 1880 Thomas Bean and his family arrived by ox-wagon and settled in this hidden valley, today commonly known as “Bean se Bos”. We are now proud to share this secret hideaway near Patensie with our guests.
You will stay in a private haven, with much to do. There are 4x4 tracks in the hills for 4x4 enthusiasts and mountain bikers. Be warned there are some VERY STEEP sections! Guests can also walk and the more energetic can explore the farm on foot.
There are also secluded picnic spots where guests can cool off in the clear mountain stream whilst enjoying a braai on the river bank.
Cell phone coverage is limited but there are some spots where cell phones can be used if really required – the best is, however, to relax and forget about the outside world and your stress whilst staying at Bean’s Hideaway.
Bean’s Hideaway is also ideal for school group outdoor activities and tents can be used to supplement the accommodation if required.
Although located in what seems to be a really secluded spot Patensie and it’s shops are within easy reach (approximately 6 kilometers) to obtain what you might have forgotten when packing.
Please come and visit Bean's Hideaway and take a trip back into history....
